I am writing this from my motel room in Toronto. Tomorrow morning I fly out to Costa Rica for a 3-week volunteer mission. Just typing that out feels weird to me. I can’t believe this day is here and I’m actually really doing this. I’m still in a teeny bit of shock. I’m finally doing it. I write this inspirational story now in hopes that it will change your life.

I’ve always dreamed of doing a volunteer mission. I’ve also always wanted to go to Costa Rica. Two big dreams turned into one big reality. Making it this far wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible.

A little help from friends.

A Little Help From FriendsPin

First came the fundraising which consisted of me begging for money. That was fun. (Not) I did it because I had a passion in me so deep that nothing was going to stop me. Then came reaching out to all my friends and family for help. This was an uncomfortable life lesson for me to learn. Raising money is not for the faint of heart.

Rides, bird sitters, plant sitters, extra money just in case, emotional support, and hugs when I needed them. You name it, I got it. I couldn’t have done any of this without my family and friends. Love you guys so friggin much!!!

You got a dream? Ask for help!!

My inspirational guru. Les Brown

I love YouTube. I find some of the coolest peeps to listen to who:

  • motivate me,
  • are extremely inspirational
  • educate me and
  • light a fire under my butt
  • give me more life lessons.

My go-to guy? Les Brown. Why? Because he speaks my language. He reminds me daily that if I want something bad enough, I can have it. He reminds me daily that NOTHING is impossible if you have enough determination and a hunger for it.

“You gotta be HUNGRY!!!” (oh don’t you worry Les, I’m hungry!!)

He also tells me that I’m the One. I’m starting to think he might be right.

Someone is going to make a powerful impact on someone else’s life.

Someone is going to change the world.

Someone is going to spread love, joy, and peace everywhere.

Someone is going to be someone else’s ray of hope.

Someone is going to make a difference.

Someone is going to start a movement that is going to change the way people think and feel about themselves and others.

Someone is going to live the life of their dreams.

I’m the One.

Wanna know a secret? YOU could be The One too!! Why not? Why not you? You’re probably an inspirational peep too but don’t think you have it in you to make a difference. Well, you do!

More inspiring people.

Les isn’t the only inspirational speaker that moves me. Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyers have had a huge impact on my life as well. I am loved, protected, supported and cared for by God. Joel and Joyce remind me of that daily. They have all and still to this day teach me so many life lessons. We really never stop learning.

We are never alone in this world. Help is literally just a YouTube video away. My dreams are powered by videos from these motivational speakers. They continually tell me I can do anything I want and I will always be protected and loved.

Can’t go wrong there.

Are you ready?

Ready to take your life to the next level? Ready to start living the life you are meant to live? Ready to stop playing small and being epic?

Go to YouTube and click play. Daily. Make it a habit. Don’t start your day without a motivational video or podcast. Trust me on this one.

Your life will never be the same.

Someone is going to eat chocolate every single day!!! (oops sorry, got carried away there)

Tell me again Les, who’s the one?

(update: this blog was written over 3 years ago. Since then, I’ve made a lot of crazy stuff happen and so can you!!)

Peace and Love

  1. Great doses of inspiration, Iva. Les, Joel and Joyce Myers all have impacted me in small ways also. But as your life reflects it, we shouldn’t let motivation just be inspiring words – we need to turn it into action. We need to go to Costa Rica:) We need to eat the chocolate:) Have a great trip!

  2. Hey Vishnu, thanx for your comment. Action speaks louder than words. Congrats on the ebook by the way!! Good for you! :)
