New Moon Rituals-Do These Every Month and Watch What Happens

I am so deeply in love with the full moon and the new moon. Honestly, I’m like a kid at Christmas time waiting for Santa’s arrival. These moons are a time of so much growth, hope, possibilities and surprise opportunities. They are also a time for reflection, my favourite part, to see what’s working and what’s not. What your next move should be and where you need to focus more. Also, the biggest one, what to let go of. This is where new moon rituals come in to play.

Do you feel the energy?

I’m really sensitive to energies, all energies, and while not many are, some of you may discover that during the new moon and full moon time, you feel slightly different. You may be super emotional or super pissed off. You may feel pensive or you may feel fully charged and ready to dominate the world.

Whatever the case may be, there are energies during this time and if you don’t pay attention to them, you may not handle them correctly. If your energy is angry and resilient, it is definitely a time for you to practice more patience, not lash out. (honestly, you can only blame so much on pms!)

It’s always helpful to do a little reading up on things like this so that you learn how to work with the energies, instead of against them. I try to spend at least a couple of hours a week chilling with Kindle, reading, learning and growing.

New moon rituals

So it should come as no surprise that I’m a new moon rituals kinda gal. I don’t even set my clock or an alarm. I know exactly what day the new moon falls on weeks before it gets here and wait in anticipation for it. This goes for the full moon too! (I’ll be blogging about my full moon rituals as well)

Now before we get into this ritual thing there is one thing you absolutely positively need to know. I can’t tell you how many times someone has referred to it as woo woo or witchcraft. Don’t be ridiculous. Do you think your vision board or mind map is woo woo or witchcraft? Of course you don’t. But it’s still a manifestation technique. A ritual you perform to bring about goodness in your life, yes?

There are a few definitions of ritual and while many do make reference to religion, this definition says it best:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ritual

Nowhere in there does it say witchcraft, woo woo or religion. See? We’re good to go! Let’s get started on our new moon rituals.

Let’s begin.

The night of the new moon, find a relaxing quiet place, away from distractions. Turn off your phone, noisy notifications on other devices, etc. You only need about half an hour to an hour (or really however long you are comfortable to meditate, write and zen out)

  1. Turn on some soft light meditative music (I find lots of great tracks on YouTube) get your favourite journalling book or a nice clean notepad and your favourite pen. You could always do this on your iPad/Phone or computer but I find it’s better without electronics and to do it the old fashioned way.
  2. Light some candles, scented or not, and/or some of your essential oils in a warmer.
  3. Sit quietly and meditate for about 10-15 minutes, calming yourself and getting into manifestation mode.
  4. When you’re done, write out 5-10 wishes you would like to manifest in the next month. Make it realistic and believable. Manifesting $1,000,000 in a month, though could happen, is highly unlikely. If you’re looking for a new job or perhaps a promotion is quite possible. Wishes like that.
  5. Feel each wish you write out. Feel the feelings you would feel when the wish comes true.
  6. Carefully tear the page out and fold it up nicely. Hold it in your hands for awhile while really feeling each wish you wrote out. Sit in this for awhile. I usually sit here for about 10 minutes with this. I go through each wish and visualize them. The feeling is really quite beautiful.
  7. Now take this page and place it under your mattress by your pillow. Leave it here until the next new moon.

(on a side note-I like to have my favourite crystals close by too-amethyst, rose quartz, moonstone)

In a month

The day of the next new moon, take this page out and have a look at it. What manifested, what didn’t, what did you come really close to? Analyze it and see if maybe something just isn’t for you and you should manifest something better or different with the new moon for the following month.

Research States Why it’s Crucial to Go to the Beach More!

Honestly, does anyone really need to tell us we need to go to the beach? Who doesn’t love the beach? Here in Panajachel Guatemala, though we don’t have many beaches per se, we do have a beautiful lake so that kinda counts. One thing for sure, it’s perfectly therapeutic for me!

Going to the beach can really rejuvenate you. It’s not only about improving your mood, it’s also about improving your health. Studies have proven that the sea can have really good effects on us.

3 reasons to get to the beach more!

1) The sea can help the way you think

Research shows that the sound of waves alters wave patterns in the brain lulling you into a deeply relaxed state. Relaxing in this way can help rejuvenate the mind and body.

New-born babies are 75 percent water and as we age we become drier to the tune of only 60 percent. Our brains, however, are still 75% water and our bones are at 31%. Our brains react to water in a positive manner because our ancient ancestors came out of the water and evolved from swimming to crawling to walking. Fetuses still have ‘gill-slit’ structures in their early stages of development and the water in our cells is comparable to that found in the sea, according to Wallace J. Nichols, a marine biologist and conservationist who lives near the central coast of California.

This biological connection to water, Nichols told CBS News, triggers an immediate response in our brains. When you see or hear the ocean, he says, you know “you’re in the right place.” (iheartintelligence)

2) Going to the beach is healthy for your body too

We all know the risks of too much sun exposure. But there are benefits to getting some rays, too.

When our skin is directly exposed to the sun, our bodies make vitamin D, a vital tool that helps with calcium absorption and building strong bones. Some of it comes from diet, but a good portion also comes from the sun. And according to the Mayo Clinic, as little as 10 minutes of sun exposure can provide us with our daily dose. According to the vitamin D council, “your body can produce 10,000 to 25,000 IU of vitamin D in just a little under the time it takes for your skin to turn pink.”

Lastly, sand acts as a natural exfoliant, helping the old skin to shed more quickly and improving its natural regeneration. It also makes an excellent surface for exercising. The extra resistance it imposes on muscles can maximise the effects of any fitness regime.

3) The sea is good for your soul

Living near the coast may be associated with better health because the seaside environment reduces stress, the researchers said. They pointed to another British study that found that people who took trips to the coast experienced more feelings of calmness and relaxation than those who visited urban parks or the countryside.

Breathing in the sea air is so uplifting. The reason that sea air decreases stress and makes you feel great may be explained by the minerals in the sea air and the negatively charged ions. Sea air consists of a significant amount of negatively charged ions. Negative ions are molecules in nature, found in great numbers in places such as the forest or waterfalls. The ocean spray which is loaded with negative ions helps strengthen immunological defense mechanisms and the iodine in the ocean mist helps regulate the thyroid gland.

Another benefit of these negative ions is that they help us absorb oxygen and many believe that these molecules help balance serotonin levels which are connected to mood and stress. In our world today we are exposed to many positive ions (free radicals) from computers, electricity, T.V.’s and more. This is why it is especially good to increase our exposure to negative ions.

Do you need more reasons?
Personally, going to the lake or being near water is amazing for decompressing. All my stress and worries seem to just melt away. But wait, head there with no electronics! Totally unplug and watch what happens. Want one more reason? Think of the new people you can meet and the conversations you can enjoy!

How to Meditate in Under 5 Minutes in 5 Steps (it can be done!)

Does the very thought of having to meditate make you go all squirrelly? Do you silently freak out and wish to hell you didn’t have to sit in “peace” and, God forbid, “relax”? How many excuses do you come up with to NOT have to meditate? Do you know how to meditate? Maybe you don’t like to do it because you don’t think you know how to.

I used to be like that. Me? Meditate? Not a chance. I don’t have time for that. It takes waaaaaaaay too long and, besides, who has time to sit for 30 minutes and do nothing but breathe? Do nothing?? Just breathe?? Good grief. Nope. Not this girl. I’m too busy. I’ll listen to the Spa channel instead. Ya, that should work. But wait, I didn’t even really know how to meditate.

Um. What? The Spa Channel, Iva, seriously?

Uh uh.That ain’t gonna work. It sounds nice and soothing and it’s all Zen like stuff but it does nothing to relax me. I mean, when I’m writing, it’s great, right? It’s soft and not very distracting so I happen to love it for that. But to think I can use this medium instead of actually meditating, not so.

2 yrs ago I didn’t know how to meditate

And then I met this lovely girl. She is an Intuitive Healer, amongst other super cool things, and she discussed meditation with me and I expressed my thoughts on it. Her first reaction? She laughed at me. Then came the “Iva Iva Iva, listen to me….” Oh dear, I was in for it.

Andrea took the time to show me how to meditate in mini sessions. Mini? I can Zen out in under 5 minutes?? Yesss!! I’m all over that. It was easy and, yes, it actually is possible to peace out in 3 minutes. I’ve taken what she showed me two years ago and have perfected it to a way that works great for me. Allow me to share. But first….

We live in a pretty fast paced, crazy and stressful world. Go go go, faster, hurry, come on move already, get outta my way, omg as if my boss just did that……….Yup. it gets pretty frantic at times. So who has time to Zen out? We ALL do with this super duper easy technique. Check it out.

These 5 simple ways will show you how to meditate fast and effectively.

Step 1.

Go find a quiet place and that may very well be the basement storage room, the attic, or even the bathroom. I don’t care where it is but find one and don’t tell me you don’t have one. Go sit in your car, in the garage or parking lot if you have to. Behind your house, your apartment building, the laundry room or even the shed. Oh, the possibilities are endless.

Step 2.

No distractions, no cell phone, no iPod, iPad or iCantdothisshit. Nothing, nudda, zip. Just you and the quiet. This one was super hard for me.

Step 3.

Sit down (or if you can’t that’s OK too, just stand or lean against a wall) and close your eyes. Now take a big deep breath in. Make this one big!! Blow it out hard. Do two more breaths like that. Big breath in, and I mean BIG, big breath out.

Step 4.

Now for the next 2-3 minutes, breathe in and out gently, but this time, when you breathe in, imagine a soft pink light, like pixie fairy dust kinda light, being sprinkled into your mind, heart and soul. When you breathe out, imagine your stress at the moment as a dark grey cloud and blow that cloud away.

Step 5.

Feel and think peace and love. Say to yourself “I love me, I’m ok, this is done”. Repeat it a few times if you have to and then carry on with your day.

Breathe in soft pink light, blow out dark grey cloud. Mmmmm, buh bye dark grey cloud. As you continue to blow out for the next few minutes, imagine that dark grey cloud getting lighter and lighter each time until it is no longer grey.

Boom. There ya have it. See how easy that was?  Now you know how to meditate! Next time you’re at work and someone really pisses you off, before you verbally attack them, go lock yourself in the bathroom and do this mini meditation. You will come out of there a new person and you can carry on your day in a Zen like state.

You can switch up the method to suit your taste. Maybe you don’t like pink or pixie fairy dust (who doesn’t??). When I breathe in, I imagine God blowing that soft dust on me but you can imagine any other spiritual figure or maybe even a cute little fairy bug.

Please try this and let me know how it works for you. If you need more tools for meditations and healings check out this page for oodles and oodles of goodies!!

What is Your Spiritual Colour? Take This Test to Find Yours.

This was a beautiful quiz to take. I like to try find not only interesting quizzes for you but ones that are fun to do. This didn’t disappoint. This quiz was fun, interesting and beautiful. Though there are a few more questions than I honestly like, you don’t even really notice just because you can’t wait to click to see what the next image is! It’s great, really. And besides, I’ve always wanted to know what my spiritual colour is!

Turns out that my spiritual colour is actually one of my favourite colours. Red! Here’s the breakdown on it:

Like a fire, you burn with passion and desire. Your dominant personality trait is your ardency. You are dynamic, powerful, strong, sexy, and exciting. Because you’re so intense, you can be very aggressive. You are a determined and highly competitive person who invests 100% in everything you do.

Spiritual colour

So that definition pretty much sums me up. I have to disagree with the competitive part though. I may have been when I was younger but definitely not so much now. I want us all to succeed.

Go ahead and take this beautiful test to see what your dominant spiritual colour is and see how accurate it might be for you. Feel free to share your results below so we know the other colours too! Share it out with your peeps if you loved it.
