When I first started my website about 5 years ago or so, making money blogging really was the last thing on my mind. Truth be told, for the first 4 years I didn’t even know what I was doing. It wasn’t until midway through 2017 that I placed Google Adsense on my blog. Lately I’ve been spending a ton of time on my website and traffic has gone through the roof. It was time to start looking into some Google Adsense Alternatives.
I know not everyone wants to place ads on their site. It took me a long time to finally decide to do this. When I placed Google Adsense back in 2017 I was barely making $1. I remember getting excited if I hit $2. I thought I would feel icky with the ads on my website but I didn’t. All good.
When I eventually figured out how to run my website and write up blogs properly, traffic increased and with that so did my Google Adsense earnings.I was averaging around $150-300 a month. It was time for me to start looking into Google Adsense Alternatives.
Google Adsense Alternatives-choosing wisely
Many high paying ad agencies require you to have over 25,000 unique page sessions a month before they will even look at you. I was at around 75,000 when I hit up the first ad agency, Mediavine. After 4 attempts at applying, and after 4 rejections, I was ready to give up. I’m not sure what they are or are not looking for but clearly it wasn’t sites like mine.
One representative suggested it might have been the strong language on my site. I then began the daunting task of going through every single blog and page to clean up the foul language. Applied one more time and still no. I’m not saying not to try applying for Mediavine. For some it was easy peasy, for others, not so much. If you apply and do get on, kudos to you! I hear they pay amazingly well. Maybe one day I’ll find out.
A friend of mine had then suggested MediaNet as another one of the Adsense Alternatives and it was the worst two months of my life. I left one Google Adsense ad on my site and published 3 of theirs and my 1 ad was making more than their 3. Not only that, their support was the worst I have ever received in my life.
I would sometimes wait up to a week for someone to reply to an email and the answers were ridiculous. I quit them after a month of barely making $75. They begged me to come back after two weeks and promised to be better.
Reluctantly, I did go back and wasted more time and energy with them. I cancelled for the last time after two weeks of absolutely no improvements and had to fight to get my $75 payout (as most thresholds are $100). Now I know of many who use MediaNet with no problems. I wasn’t one of them and would never recommend them. #mytwocents
And then I remember a couple of years ago a friend of mine had suggested Ezoic. I had spoke with them at that time but they too, rejected the foul language. Well, it’s all gone now. Time to revisit them.
I hooked up with the most amazing customer service rep I’ve ever met in my whole life. We jumped on a Zoom call and she was so helpful, patient and knowledgeable. Her name is Emily Brennan so if you’re thinking about taking the leap, ask for her and tell her I sent you!
As I am completely website and tech talk challenged, she literally did everything for me. She even had to put up with me and my one million emails and questions. We decided to start at 50% Google Adsense and 50% Ezoic ads. After one week I could see the difference.
Ezoic was paying out double what googleads was. I was immediately hooked on this Adsense Alternatives. You can read my blog here about my December blogging income and see how Ezoic performed and outperformed Google Adsense..
After 3 weeks, we went 100% Ezoic ads and I’ve never been happier. My earnings for January were almost $800. That’s almost quadruple what they were with Google Adsense. Someone say Boom!!
Now if you’ve read any of my other blogs about making money online, you know I’m a huge Pinterest fan. It has consistently driven over 90% of the traffic to my website. I know that in order to keep my passive income up, and growing, I need to write quality content and be consistent in sharing it out.
I’m still working on this and struggle some days as I just have so many irons in the fire right now it’s hard for me to focus but I’m working on that too.
To this day I am still learning SEO and taking as many free courses as I can (that interest me) to improve my SEO. I don’t want to have to only rely on Pinterest for traffic. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but SEO, or growing your traffic organically, really is the way to go and you should be learning SEO too. I’m a huge Neil Patel fan and follow him religiously.
After everything I’ve been learning from him and a few others, my traffic is closing in on 100,000 monthly views. When that happens you’ll be able to hear me scream all the way from Guatemala. Another one of the Adsense Alternatives is AdThrive is another high paying Adsense Alternative but they require you to have at least 100K views on your site.
I’ll be applying to them when I finally hit, though I’ve been told that they usually only accept lifestyle/recipe/mom type stuff, we’ll see. I’m going to try anyway. I’ve also heard nothing but good things about them too!
Web traffic-how much you need and how to get it
The great thing about Ezoic is you only need 10,000 monthly page sessions to apply unlike Mediavine who requires 25,000. If you’re not there yet, have faith and keep working at it. You’ll get there! Really focusing on SEO and Pinterest has helped grow my traffic to almost 100K monthly views in a year. I’m pretty proud of my accomplishments here as it takes me awhile to get a good grasp on anything that has to do with SEO or driving web traffic.
I use Tailwind with Pinterest and investing in that has made the biggest difference not only in time management but also in getting more web traffic to my site. You have to pay to play if you want to see results. I know investing in your online business when just starting up can be tough but you have to do it!
Also having a great website host will make a difference in your web traffic as well. I have been with Siteground now for a little over a year and have never been happier. Their support is amazing and my site runs great! I also make sure to share out my blogs over my social networks like LinkedIn, Reddit, Twitter and of course, my Facebook page.
Other Adsense Alternatives include:
There are many others and I have read reviews and actually applied to a couple of them. Propeller Ads is one and RevContent is another that appear to be decent enough. I found them to be a wee too confusing for me to understand so I never fully followed through with them. Remember, I’m tech challenged!
If you’re in the market for Google Adsense Alternatives honestly my best advice would be to sniff around and read some reviews and talk to a marketing rep, if you can, at one of the ad networks before you decide to take the leap. I’m extremely happy with Ezoic and they have far exceeded my expectations. Once I’ve crossed the 100K mark I will then look into AdThrive but if they say no, I’ll be ok with that too!
I hope this blog helped you even a wee bit if you’ve been thinking of Adsense Alternatives. This is my honest opinion and review of 3 but don’t stop here. Keep checking out other reviews before you decide. Also keep in mind that if you are still on the fence about placing ads on your site remember one thing, it still is a fantastic way to make awesome passive income without having to do anything but produce great content, which is something you already are doing!
Peace and Love
